And evening in Amsterdam, a flight to Tanzania

(Timezone: UTC+1) I've included both our Amsterdam layover pictures in this group. On the way to Tanzania we stopped in Amsterdam for a single night. We stayed at a hotel near the airport and took the train into downtown for the evening. For dinner we had Indonesian food from a place listed in our Frommer's Amsterdam guide and watched the Brazil vs. Ghana world cup game.

We ate our share of french fries, and I would suggest that you stay away from the cheese toppings and just admit you are an American and get ketchup on them (Neeley disagrees and recommends that you just admit that you are in the Netherlands and get mayonnaise on 'em. And if you must have ketchup at least get the curry variant).

On the way out, we met up with my parents at the Amsterdam airport in the morning. They had just flown in direct from Boston that morning.

I've included some pictures of circular patterns that I saw on the flight over northern Africa from the airplane. After a brief investigation, they appear to be irrigation circles.

On the way back from Tanzania I was sick. Sick enough that I ended up throwing up in the taxi on our ride from the train station to our hotel. I didn't feel bad about it after I figured out that the taxi driver was ripping us off by traveling the round about way to our hotel. The ride cost us 30 Euros. By comparison, the ride from our hotel all the way out to the airport the next morning, 3-4 times further, only cost 28 Euros.
