United Arab Emirates - May 2011

Back to the United Arab Emirates. I have been before, so I wanted to avoid the malls and the shopping. With my single free day I made a morning trip to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, and an afternoon/dinner adventure trying out Dune Bashing.

The mosque was impressively large and cool on the feet (you must remove your shoes when in the building). Dune bashing was fun, but I wanted to drive, not ride. You get to ride in a Toyota Land Cruiser up walls of sand, until the vehicle is about to roll over, then turn down, and repeat. After a couple hours of this, they take you for a barbeque dinner in the dunes, then back to your hotel.
